Youth group leaders

Gordon Fuglie attends St. Luke's and St. James. Prior to his involvement with the Rite 13 and Journey to Adulthood, he participated in adult Christian formation through Education for Ministry (EFM) and later worked with children's liturgical education via Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Los Angeles. Gordon is an art writer and serves on the Advisory Council of the new Central California Museum of Art. He lives with his wife and son in Atascadero.

Diana Hammerlund works at the county library in San Luis Obispo. She is Senior Warden of St. Benedict's and has been active in a ridiculous number of activities at her children's schools. Diana and her husband John have two adult daughters and a son who went through the J2A program "from the beginning".

Berkeley Johnson is Chaplain of the deanery's "Canterbury ministry" for youth and young adults.  Prior to attending seminary (Episcopal Divinity School, M.Div. '07), Berkeley practiced law in Vermont and worked with youth in the Episcopal Church for over a decade. Berkeley and his wife Veronica have a son who is looking forward to joining the Rite 13 program when he is older.

Mariel Mascorro is a Cuesta College student who is majoring in Early Childhood Education. She attends St. Luke's in Atascadero; she has been with the church for almost three years. She enjoys reading a good book in front of the fire place, when she doesn't have her nose in a boring old text book, cuddling with her dog Ben, and talking with her friends on Facebook.

Dennis ("Skip") Parks is is assistant vice president for university and community engagement and professor-in-residence at Cal Poly. Prior to that, he served as dean, continuing education and university outreach. Skip served as an Education for Ministry (EFM) mentor in the Diocese of Virginia before moving to California. When not traveling for Cal Poly, Skip enjoys biking, running, and swimming - but mostly biking. He is married to Rosey Parks and they have three sons.

Trip leader

Leann Brooks, a retired computer geek, received the Bishop's Cross at the 2008 diocesan convention in recognition of her many years of service to the diocese's youth. She got started leading youth trips when her own children wanted to go on one. She is very active with and a former member of the board of Sierra Service Project, an interdenominational Christian organization which organizes mission trips for church youth groups. She also serves as Treasurer for St. Luke's and for the San Luis Obispo Canterbury Foundation.
